Festivals Commentary

The way that festivals are celebrated are left up to the individual or group, apart from the guidance given for each festival in the Book of Weksek.

It is best to celebrate the festivals outside in nature, even if it is only in a small garden, yard or balcony with potted plants. If this is not possible indoors with a potted plant or flowers will suffice.

There is no stipulation for a sacred space or altar in the Book of Weksek as all of the Earth is sacred. The meditation provides the sense of holiness or sacredness and the visualization provides the temple or sacred space. If, however, a more physical approach is needed, to help focus the mind and emotions, a sacred sacred space or altar can be constructed. This can add a sense of beauty to the festivals, meditations, visualization and prayers. This altar or sacred space can be indoors or outdoors.

An altar or sacred area should contain the elements in the visualization. There should be a green altar cloth, green table or green flat surface, this could also be a patch of grass, lawn or field. As long as the surface is flat and green. On this surface there should be a yellow pillar candle, yellow dinner candle, that is, any long or tall yellow candle. A white statue of a young joyful woman should be placed behind or in front of the candle, the shortest object in front of the tallest. A statue of Mary may be used or a statue of a Goddess such as Euphrosyne or Aphrodite, as long as it is joyful and youthful. It should be completely or mainly white in colour. A small amount of yellow, red, pink or green colour is also acceptable but not blue or purple. A picture may be used instead of the statue. Any picture maybe used including a white coloured symbolic form. A white petaled flower may also be used instead. In front of the statue, picture or white flower place red flowers, petals, berries, fruits, gems or stones, as long as they are red in colour.

Pine or flower scented incense or perfume may also be used.

A sacred space could also be composed of plants, such as grass or low growing evergreen green plants, white and red flowers, berries or leaves and a yellow candle or yellow pillar with a candle or tealight on it.

As mentioned this altar or sacred space may also be used as the place for meditations, visualization and prayers.
